Velour Models in 2020 was hit hard by the Covid 19 pandemic, the entire fashion industry in Kenya was brought to its knees. Many key players in the industry, including designers, production houses, and stockists had to close shop or venture into other businesses. Travel bans saw the cancellation of beauty pageants, modeling agencies refrained from signing international models or booking them for shows.
We started the year strong, with new clients and an enthusiasm like never before, here is some of the work we did in 2020.
EVE WOMAN MAGAZINE
We have had the privilege of providing models for the free pullout, Eve Woman Magazine Kenya for the past 3 years, and this year was no different. This platform has played a key role in building portfolios for our models. When the pandemic hit, however, the magazine shoot stalled and eventually came to a halt. Some of our new models got the chance to shoot for the magazine before the lock down.
THE SAMANTHA BRIDAL EXPO
The longest-standing and highly competitive catwalk in Kenya, the Samantha’s Bridal Expo 2020 took place in February. We have assisted in producing the show for the past 3 years, and this was our first year, casting for the show. Having 8 of our 20 female models walking this show was exciting and very fulfilling. Many of our 2020 fresh faces had the privilege to launch their career on this catwalk!
The second show was cancelled because of the lockdown and government regulations on Covid 19 management, we hope the show resumes in 2021!
CHELSEA LULU FOR INESE GOLDE
If you are not new to the modeling industry in Kenya, you already know the Top Model at Velour, Miss Chelsea Lulu. She is the first model we ever signed and has grown to become a household name. Every year, her career has grown in leaps and bound and we are super excited that 2020 was no different.
Shooting with London based photographer, Inese Golde, who happened to be in Kenya in March is the highlight of this year,

APOLLO EXPRESS LIMITED ADVERTISEMENT
Velour Model Mmanagement has for a long time been known as a fashion modelling agency. In 2019, we shot our first comercial for KB Lager. This year, we grew a new client, Apollo Express Limited, featuring one of our 2020 fresh faces- Mervin Obiero.
Male modeling in Kenya is a tall order, especially, if you want to purely do fashion. We are glad we can diversify our fields and hopefully grow into a 360 modelling agency in the next few years.
LEILA NYAMBURA FOR RUBYELLA BEAUTY
Our models have always gone above and beyond our expectations in booking amazing clients. Ths year, the beautiful Leila Nyambura did not come to play. Booking her first solo job and commercial for Ruby Ella Beauty, we are excited to see the direction her career takes in 2021.

WHITE CLOSET BRIDAL SHOP LOOKBOOK
Closing 2020 with our fresh faces shooting for White Closet Bridal Boutique. Models, Ivy Sipasha and Rebecca Wanjiru looked stunning in this photoshoot . Velour Models 2020 fresh faces had very few opportunities to explore their potential and grow their brands, surprisingly, they managed to do so much with so little. We believe 2020 is going to be an incredible year and we cannot wait to see them soar!
2020 taught a lot about our industry, and how to keep afloat in the midst of a global shut down. We are walking into 2021 with a lot of zeal and hope, for a better year for Velour Models and the industry as a whole.
